| Home Schools Cycling South Africa Contact Rules Home Schools Cycling South Africa Contact Rules Welcome In 2009, Amarider launched South Africa’s first national inter-schools mountain bike racing program. The Spur Schools Mountain Bike League grew exponentially, attracting over 20 000 entries in 2019. While pandemic scuppered the 2020 and 2021 seasons, The League revisited the original concept and has developed a new-look program focused on more accessible and frequent participation opportunities. The evolution of shorttrack (XCC) racing into a fully fledged UCI championship competition has also guided our process and therefore the decision to relaunch the program as a Shorttrack focussed league. The benefits of shorter races are widespread – from athletic benefits like the development of skills and speed, right through to practical considerations including more suitable venues, especially schools.
